National, regional, and local public authorities, Non-Profit organisations, and businesses now have the opportunity to recieve funding to step up capacities for environmental and climate management: The LIFE programme 2021-2027 published its first calls for project proposals.
As the effects of climate change can be traced at global scale, local, regional, and national authorities aim at finding ways to cope and mitigate its consequences. Against this background, the EU member states endorsed the European Green Deal and made it a policy priority for the next years and decades. One of the key aspects of a viable and sustainable climate management is an inclusive governance.
The LIFE programme is one of the key contributing funding instruments to implement the European Green Deal. In doing so, the programme finances initiatives to transform the EU and associated members to the programme (e.g. Ukraine) into a fair prosperous society and sustainable economy with zero net emissions until 2050. Furthermore, the programme aims at supporting the protection and conservation of natural capital, protection of health and well-being of citizens from environment and climate related risks and impacts.
LIFE Funding for Climate Governance & Technical Assistance for Strategic Integrated Projects
In its latest calls for proposals, LIFE provides funding for Climate and Environmental Governance as well as for Strategic Integrated Projects. Public authorities at all levels that aims for an inclusive and sustainable approach to tackle ecological and climate related challenges can apply now for funding such as:
- Climate Governance and Information
- Nature Governance
- Technical Assistance preparation of CLIMA SIPs
- Technical Assistance preparation of SNAPs
The LIFE programme covers the EU member states as well as third countries associated to the programme, such as the Ukraine.
