DANUBE REGION PROGRAMME

The Danube Region Programme (DRP) provides funding for transnational projects in the Danube Region. The programme covers all 14 partner countries of the EU Danube Strategy and supports projects for a smarter, greener, more social Danube Region and to improve territorial governance. The Danube Region Programme is an Interreg funding programme (Interreg B – transnational cooperation) and an instrument of European Territorial Cooperation (ETC).
The Danube Region Programme is the successor of the Danube Transnational Programme (2014-2020).

CENTRAL EUROPE PROGRAMME

The transnational Interreg programme Central Europe provides funding for projects that support a smarter, greener, better connected, and more integrated central Europe. The programme covers the following countries: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The programme Interreg Central Europe is part of the Interreg B strand and an instrument of the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC).

CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION (INTERREG A)

European cross-border cooperation supports regions from at least two different countries lying directly on the borders or adjacent to them. It aims to tackle common challenges identified jointly in the border regions. Likewise, it seeks to enhance cooperation to untap the full growth potential and improve the overall quality of life in border areas. Cross-border cooperation (CBC) programmes, also known as Interreg A, are a funding instrument of European Territorial Cooperation. They not only support border areas within the European Union, but also cooperation between EU member states and Accession and Neighbouring countries.

INTERREGIONAL COOPERATION (INTERREG C)

Interregional cooperation supports building networks to develop good practice and facilitate the exchange and transfer of experience. The programmes cover all EU member states. Interregional cooperation includes the programmes in the following 4 areas: Interreg Europe for interregional development, URBACT for urban development, ESPON for territorial research, and INTERACT for capacity building for Interreg programmes and macro-regional strategies.

EUROPEAN SOCIAL FUND (ESF+)

The European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) is the European Union (EU)’s main instrument for investing in people. With a budget of almost € 99.3 billion for the period 2021-2027, the ESF+ will continue to provide an important contribution to the EU’s employment, social, education and skills policies, including structural reforms in these areas.

The Operational Programmes of the ESF+ in the Danube Region are also defining joint topics for transnational cooperation.

EUROPEAN FUND FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT (ERDF)

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) aims to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion in the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions. Operational Programmes that address a smarter Europe aim at enhancing digitalisation. Member states that are part in the Danube Strategy have to establish a clear link between the Operational Programmes and the strategy in order to facilitate contributions to implementing the Danube Strategy.

Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation with a budget of €95.5 billion. It tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth. Pillar II of the programme addresses the following global challenges: health, culture, creativy, inclsuive society, civil security for society, digitalisation, industry, space, climate, energy, mobility, food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture, and environment.

CITIZENS, EQUALITY, RIGHTS AND VALUES PROGRAMME (CERV)

 

This programme aims to protect and promote Union rights and values as enshrined in the EU Treaties and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. It will contribute to sustain and further develop open, rights-based, democratic, equal and inclusive societies based on the rule of law. European Commission’s EACEA manages two strands of the CERV programme on behalf of DG JUST: Union Values and Citizen’s engagement and participation. This encompasses the town-twinning, networks of towns and remembrance actions, as well as the European networks, civil society organisations active at EU level and European think-tanks in the areas of Union Values.

EUROPEAN URBAN INITIATIVE (EUI)

The European Commission’s  European Urban Initiative (EUI) supports cities with innovative actions, capacity and knowledge building, policy development and communication on sustainable urban development. The European Urban Initiative aims at supporting cities within this new Cohesion policy frame, encouraging them to be bold on innovation and to spread the benefits of tested solutions across Europe while supporting capacity building and evidence-based policy making, and knowledge sharing, on sustainable urban development. Thereby, the EUI supports both innovative solutions and capacity building.

The EUI is the successor of the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA).

REFORM SUPPORT PROGRAMME

The Reform Support Programme is an instrument designed to foster the implementation of reforms in all EU Member States, starting with priority reforms identified in the European Semester. The Programme will provide financial and technical support for the pursuit and implementation of reforms and to improve Member States’ administrative capacity. The post-2020 Reform Support Programme will consist of three separate but complementary instruments: the Technical Support Instrument, the Reform Delivery Tool and the Convergence Facility.

FUNDING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR ACCESSION & NEIGHBOURHOOD COUNTRIES

European Commission’s DG NEAR provides funding for accession (Instrument for Pre-Accession – IPA) and neighbourhood (Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument – NDICI) countries. In addition, the European Commission offers with the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX) support for public administrations with regard to the approximation, application and enforcement of EU legislation as well as facilitating the sharing of EU best practices.
