A smart community is a town, municipality, village or neighbourhood that uses information and communication technologies (ICTs) to promote well-being for its people. In doing so, smart communities seek to engage with citizens, provide accessible services, make better use of infrastructure, reduce the use of environmental resourcs, and/or support smart growth.

The precondition for developing and maintaining smart community activities is civic engagement.

Together with our partners from the EU Alpine Strategy, EU Baltic Sea Strategy, and EU Adriatic Ionian Strategy, we aim at facilitating capacity building for communities across all four macro-regions to improve territorial attractiveness and well-being for citizens in municipalities.
