AGRIGO4CITIES – A DTP PROJECT THAT IS CONTRIBUTING TO PA10 TARGETS

AgriGo4Cities is a project financed by the Danube Transnational Programme that is contributing to the Priority Area 10 targets and actions. It wants to employ Participatory Urban and Peri-urban agriculture (UPA) as a powerful and emerging method to improve public institutional capacities in order to tackle socio-economic exclusion of vulnerable/marginalized groups and to stimulate sustainable urban development in the Danube region. To this end the projects aims to develop innovative methodology of participatory planning and integrate it into decision-making processes.

The project employs participatory urban and peri-urban agriculture as a way of improving the capacity of the institutions. Through its implementation, the project will help to eliminate the gap that currently exists between the public authorities and different vulnerable groups. With the project we wish to contribute to the involvement of the civil society into the decision-making process. In the context of the above-mentioned ideas, the Inventory report has the purpose of evaluating the state of art of relevant public institutions, vulnerable groups and urban and peri-urban agriculture in pilot areas of the Danube region. The Inventory report includes the detailed analysis of urban agriculture and its relation to social inclusion. It also assesses the contribution of urban agriculture to sustainable urban development.

The Inventory report describes partners’ profiles taking into account aspects regarding urban agriculture, participatory planning and social inclusion. The report contains structural demographic, socio-economic and spatial indicators related to selected pilot areas. These statistical data were obtained by investing EUROSTAT’s statistics and Copernicus CORINE Land Cover.

There are several pilot areas involved in the project AgriGo4Cities, as it follows:

Municipal district Prague 9 (Czech Republic),

Municipality of Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria),

Municipality of Szekesfehevar (Hungary),

Municipality of Vaslui (Romania),

Municipality of Velenje (Slovenia)

Municipality Of Ulcinj (Montenegro).
