Interreg AT-CZ Open Call: Fostering Sustainable Cross-Border Cooperation

As part of the European cohesion policy, the Interreg Programme Austria-Czech Republic is dedicated to enhancing sustainable cross-border collaboration, driving economic, social, and territorial integration. The program emphasizes innovation, environmental resilience, cultural enrichment, and governance reform to build a stronger, more connected region.

 

Expected results

 

Types of interventions:

  • Priority 1: Research and Innovation
    • Specific objective: Research and innovation
      • Cross-border research and exchange of expertise 
      • Joint pilot actions and solutions in shared research infrastructures and services
      • Communication and mobility of researchers
  • Priority 2: Climate and environment
    • Specific objective: Climate change adaptation
      • Shared knowledge base – inventory and data sharing to better prepare for climate change impacts 
      • Joint pilot actions and solutions for climate change adaptation 
      • Awareness raising and training on climate change adaptation
    • Specific objective: Nature Conservation & Biodiversity
      • Shared knowledge base – stocktaking and data sharing to improve water management 
      • Joint pilot actions and investment in common solutions for ecological water management 
      • Shared knowledge base – stocktaking and data sharing to improve biodiversity 
      • Joint pilot actions and common solutions to better protect biodiversity 
      • Awareness-raising and training measures to enhance biodiversity
  • Priority 3: Education, culture and tourism
    • Specific objective: Education and training
      • Cross-border cooperation to improve cross-border education in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, universities and vocational schools 
      • Joint pilot measures and investments to improve cross-border education in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, higher education institutions and vocational schools.
    • Specific objective: Culture and tourism
      • Cross-border knowledge and data exchange to promote the resilience of the tourism and culture sector 
      • Joint pilot actions and investments to promote the resilience of the tourism and culture sector.
  • Priority 4: Cross-border governance
    • Specific objective: Legal and institutional cooperation
      • Joint strategy development and exchange of know-how
      • Joint pilot actions to remove border barriers
      • Networking and clustering activities to reduce administrative and legal barriers

 

Partnership and Collaboration

Projects must involve at least one partner from Austria and one from the Czech Republic, ensuring cross-border collaboration. Alternatively, partnerships can be structured through European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs) or cross-border legal entities.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Projects must demonstrate a clear cross-border impact within the program area.
  • Private companies can only partner under Priority 1 in the Czech Republic.
  • Austrian partners outside the program area may participate if they provide substantial impact within the target regions.

 

Deadline for Applications: 28.03.2025 at 14:00

 

The Interreg Programme Austria-Czech Republic is a cornerstone of cross-border cooperation, driving sustainable development and fostering innovation, environmental resilience, and cultural growth.
