Joint Statement of the Danube Foreign Ministers – Vienna Danube Declaration

During this year´s Annual Forum in Vienna, the ministers of foreign affairs in the EUSDR came together and delivered a joint statement with regards to current issues in the Danube Regions as well as opportunities and areas of focus.

 

In short, the signed declaration,

  • Condemmed Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine and attacks on Danube port infrastructure and navigation freedoms.
  • Encouraged the EUSDR as a forum for cooperation with EU candidate countries.
  • Appreciated the Danube Youth Council’s efforts and commending the institutionalisation of the Danube Youth Organisations Network.
  • Welcomed Austrian EUSDR Presidency initiatives to promote dialogue and cooperation in the Danube Region.
  • Supported initiatives to counteract illegal migration, explore migration opportunities, and dismantle smuggling networks.
  • Reaffirmed commitment to addressing challenges in the Danube Region through cooperation in foreign policy and security.
  • Highlighted the importance of funding programmes like Interreg for EUSDR results.
