Frumushika-Nova Ethno-village, May 15-16, 2024 — The 4th National Participation Day in Ukraine “TOWARDS A GREENER, DEMOCRATIC AND RESILIENT UKRAINE” brought together approximately 40 participants from various regions and countries, including Odessa, Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Austria, and Moldova. This significant event aimed to discuss Ukraine’s recovery and transformation, with a particular focus on green recovery, democratic development, and innovative socio-economic strategies.
The central theme of the discussions was envisioning a sustainable future for Ukraine. The event’s primary objectives included:
- Green Recovery: Exploring environmental initiatives to rebuild a more sustainable Ukraine.
- Democratic Development: Strengthening democratic institutions and processes.
- Innovative Socio-Economic Development: Implementing innovative approaches to boost socio-economic resilience.
This national participation day marked a significant revival of Ukraine’s National Participation Days after an extended hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. The organisers expressed optimism about the continuity of these events, with plans to hold them regularly across different regions within Ukraine.
The 4th National Participation Day in Ukraine was jointly arranged by the Centre for Regional Studies, Borodino Territorial Community Council Borodinska Selyshchna Rada, Danube Civil Society Forum, and Rewilding Ukraine in cooperation with PA10 “Institutional Capacity” of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, Foster Europe Foundation for strong European Regionss, Izmail State University of Humanities, ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy, and Civic Association “Agro-ecological and tourism cluster Frumushika-Nova”.
The 4th Ukrainian National Participation Day set the stage for a comprehensive dialogue on Ukraine’s future, highlighting the importance of green initiatives, democratic values, and socio-economic innovation. As preparations continue for the upcoming 11th Danube Participation Day and 13th Annual Forum in Vienna, the collaborative spirit and shared vision demonstrated at this gathering promise a brighter, more resilient future for Ukraine and the wider Danube Region.
