11th Danube Participation Day

Creating change for successful EU enlargement

How can we work together for a sustainable, resilient, and stable transition in Ukraine and beyond?

Building upon the results of the 10th Danube Participation Day in Ljubljana, there are three primary areas of focus for innovation and transformation in Ukraine and Moldova: social transformation, democratic transformation, and sustainable green transformation. Each of these areas has its own unique characteristics while remaining interconnected and reliant on each other.

Additionally, without a secure and developed democratic system and society, no social or green transition can be imagined, while democratic and green transition can’t be imagined without a social transformation. Therefore, at the 11th Danube Participation Day in Vienna we will explore the lessons learned in the transition towards EU membership with promising and challenging experiences in all three areas.

Three key challenges have been identified and attributed to the three primary areas, namely: financing, capacity building among civil society and local administrations, and the establishment of a culture of trust, participation and co-creation.

In order to enhance networks and collaboration, the Danube Participation Day will provide opportunities for direct interaction and discussion among participants through two interactive sessions:

  • The Agora which will give the opportunity to present ongoing or upcoming projects as well NGOs and their work. Here we kindly invite interested parties to take part and present your institution and/or project in the Agora. To do so please fill out this form. All further organisational information will follow.
  • Three interactive Transition Labs focusing on the three key challenges. Here you will have the chance to delve into discussions with your peers on these topics.

Finally, as a third element we will invite national and international institutions, active in funding in the Danube region to present their funding schemes with relation to civil society.
