Last year the 10th Danube Participation Day in Ljubljana laid the groundwork for fostering innovation and transformation in Ukraine and Moldova, focusing on three focus areas: social, democratic, and sustainable green transformations. Building upon these results, the upcoming 11th Danube Participation Day in Vienna aims to delve deeper into the challenges and opportunities within these realms, drawing lessons from the transition towards EU membership and examining promising and challenging experiences.
Following this, three primary challenges have been identified, each corresponding to one of the aforementioned focus areas:
- Financing: Securing adequate funding for initiatives in social, democratic, and green transformations.
- Capacity Building: Strengthening the capabilities of civil society and local administrations to drive change effectively.
- Culture of Trust and Participation: Cultivating an environment conducive to collaboration, trust-building, and co-creation.
The 11th Danube Participation Day offers two interactive sessions to facilitate dialogue and collaboration:
- Agora: An opportunity to showcase ongoing or upcoming projects, as well as NGOs and their work. Interested parties are invited to participate and present their institutions or projects. To do please register your project or organisation here.
- Transition Labs: Interactive discussions focusing on the three key challenges, allowing participants to delve deeper into each topic and exchange insights with peers.
Additionally, national and international institutions active in funding in the Danube region will present their funding schemes related to civil society, providing valuable resources and networking opportunities.
Interested participants can register here for the event and take part in shaping the dialogue around social, democratic, and sustainable transformations. The draft agenda is available here, with further technical details to be provided on the Danube Civil Society Forum Website and the EUSDR Priority Area 10 website.
All participants of the 11th Danube Participation Day are also invited to join the 13th Annual Forum in Vienna on 20–21 June 2024 (separate registration required).
Please register and join us in Vienna to contribute to this important dialogue and drive positive change in the region!
