We are pleased to announce that the 12th edition of the Danube Participation Day will take place in Sarajevo on 4 November 2025. The event takes place back-to-back with the 14th EUSDR Annual Forum. This year, the Danube Participation Day is dedicated to the motto “Local Voices, European Future – The Crucial Role of Communities in Shaping EU Policy and Driving Enlargement”.
In this spirit, we are looking forward to discuss the role of local communities in implementing EU policies, how they can strengthen a culture of participation, and what civil society, public administrations at national and local level as well as businesses and academia need and contribute to implement European values. Thereby, we invite participants from civil society organisations, cities, municipalities, public administration at all levels, academia, international and European organisations, and business from both EU member states and candidate countries to share their insights and experience.
Join stakeholders from across the Danube Region for a day of exchange, participation, and inspiration—including:
- Engaging Panel Discussions
- Interactive World Café Sessions
- The Danube Participation Agora
- Networking Opportunities
Registration and draft agenda will follow in due course and will be shared on our website.
About the Danube Participation Day
The Danube Participation Day gathers representatives from civil society organisations, local, regional and national public authorities, university and research from the 14 EUSDR partner countries, representatives from the EUSDR governance as well as from European and international organisations. The aim is to foster cooperation and participation for better development in the Danube Region. Thus, the Danube Participation Days serves as a platform for exchanging views and perceptions among each other, discussing good-practices of participatory governance and project implementations as well as for getting involved with decision-makers.
The Danube Participation Day is organised by Priority Area 10 “Institutional Capacity and Cooperation” and the Danube Civil Society Forum together with further local partners as well as in close cooperation with the EUSDR Presidencies.
The 12th Danube Participation Day is organised by the coordination team of Priority Area 10 “Institutional Capacity and Cooperation” and the Danube Civil Society Forum. The event is supported by the EUSDR Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina/Directorate for European Integration. Further support is provided by LDA Mostar and the Centre for Civil Society Promotion.
