Networks of Towns, provide cities and municipalities with a unique opportunity to deepen collaboration and shape their long-term vision for European integration. These networks play a crucial role in promoting discussions on pressing issues such as environmental protection, climate change, solidarity, and migration. The central goal is to create a shared understanding of European values and strengthen the identity of a European community.
Objectives of the Call:
- Promoting exchange between citizens of different countries:
Networks of Towns aim to facilitate exchange between citizens of different countries, enhancing mutual understanding, tolerance, and expanding perspectives. Through this dialogue, the networks seek to foster a sense of European belonging and identity.
- Engaging citizens in discussions on climate, environment, solidarity, and migration:
The networks of towns advocate for actively involving citizens and communities in discussions and actions related to climate, environment, solidarity, and migration. This enables citizens to discover the cultural diversity of the European Union and recognize that European values and cultural heritage form the foundation for a shared future.
- Promoting collaboration between municipalities and sharing best practices:
The networks strive to promote collaboration between cities and municipalities, emphasizing the exchange of best practices to learn from others’ experiences and collectively develop sustainable solutions.
- Supporting responsible local governance:
The call aims to support responsible local governance and strengthen the role of local and regional authorities in the European integration process. This contributes to creating a more democratic union and instils a stronger sense of responsibility among citizens for the European project.
Regions and Countries Eligible for Support: EU Member States, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine. This broad geographical coverage encourages cross-border exchange of ideas and best practices.
Eligible Institutions for Support: educational and research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), non-profit organizations (NPOs), international organizations, private entities, and public institutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
City networks play a key role in promoting sustainable European integration. Through the exchange of ideas, facilitation of discussions, and support for local governance, these networks contribute to shaping a strong, democratic, and united future for Europe.
