FOSTERING COOPERATION: EUSDR NATIONAL HEARING IN SERBIA
This year, Serbia organised for the second time a National Hearing on the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in Novi Sad. On 24 March 2017, over 90 representatives of local governments, civil society organizations, public administrations, universities, private companies, public companies and representatives of EU organizations responsible for the implementation of the Danube Strategy in 14 European and non-European countries met at the Great Hall of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
Despite facing many challenges such as nature protection, safety of people or the availability of profound data, the Danube Region also offers manifold opportunities for cooperation for Serbia.
Against this background, the National Hearing provided information on funding opportunities for cross-border and transnational cooperation and presented innovative examples of cooperation ranging from water protection in Vojvodina to food safety in supply chains in the Danube Region. Furthermore, the event offered the opportunity to exchange know-how and experience between public and private stakeholders and to network for future cooperation.
