National Coordinators endorsed Governance Paper

July 29, 2020in 2020 0 Likes

On the 22 July 2020, the National Coordinators of the EU Danube Strategy endorsed the Paper on the Governance Architecture. The paper defines functions and responsibilities of the different roles within the strategy’s governance.

The Croatian EUSDR Presidency started this initiative. In doing so, the Presidency aimed at improving coordination and cooperation within the governance and supporting the development of administrative capacity for a more effective implementation of the Danube Strategy.

Who is doing what

The Governance Paper provides a description on the functioning of the Danube Strategy’s Governance model. Thereby, the document addresses the following roles:

  • High-level Group,
  • National Coordinators,
  • The Trio Presidency and Presidency,
  • Priority Area Coordinators,
  • Steering Groups,
  • Working Groups,
  • European Commission and
  • Danube Strategy Point.

With this endeavour, the Croatian Presidency seeked to contribute to more clarity in the coordination process of the Danube Strategy. Furthermore, the documents should provide an answer to the issues that have been raised in the European Commission’s second report on the implementation of macro-regional strategies.

Hence, the document was drafted to contribute to strengthen the ownership of line ministries and empower members of the Steering Groups, balance the coordination roles, seek synergies between existing instruments and activities, improve the dialogue between the strategy and EU programme authorities etc.
