The European Week of Regions and Cities is the biggest annual event dedicated to European regional policy. The event has grown to become a unique communication and networking platform, bringing together regions and cities from all over Europe.
In light of the COVID pandemic, this year’s European Week of Regions and Cities will be mostly virtual. Hence, the organisers created the opportunity for a late registration to the workshops.
Prolonged deadlines for registration
The new registration deadlines are as follows:
- Registration to week 1 sessions Empowering Citizens remain open until 1 October.
- Registration to week 2 sessions Cohesion and Cooperation remain open until 7 October.
- Registration to week 3 sessions Green Europe remain open until 14 October.

The Shadow Report project is an initiative of civil society organisations from several EU member states to prepare an implementation report on EU macro-regional policies from a citizens’ perspective.

(b-)solutions to border obstacles | 13 October 2020 | 14:30-16:00 CET
This participatory lab presents the b-solutions initiative, a tool for practitioners to foster cross-border interactions by removing hurdles to cooperation. Participants will discuss solutions found to improve citizens’ lives in border regions, exchanging information with the Commission’s Border Focal Point and legal experts.

Mobilizing ESI and IPA funds in the EUSAIR and EUSDR in post-2020 | 14 October 2020 | 16.30-18.00 CET
Embedding EUSAIR and EUSDR in mainstream programmes is a strategic process to enhance the implementation of EU priorities on the territories of those macro-regional strategies, supporting at the same time the enlargement process and better and more productive relations with neighbouring countries, as well as making them more sustainable and resilient to crises and challenges, as in the case of COVID-19.
The objective of this workshop is to build upon these experiences and broaden out the reflection at the eve of the adoption of post 2020 Cohesion Policy and IPA III programmes and to make sure that the authorities responsible for managing ESI and IPA funds fully embed macroregional priorities in their post-2020 ‘mainstream’ programmes.

Laboratory for a new Europe: Macro-regional strategies pushing European Integration | 15 October 2020 | 12:30-13:30 CET
