Over 40% of the Danube Region are border areas and include even capitals such as Bratislava or Zagreb and further larger cities. Hence, a large part of the population in the Danube Region live in border regions. Consequently, many institutions and enterprises are operating close to country borders. Thus, the ability to cooperate as well as to overcome legal and administrative barriers are a key factor for prosperity in the region.

 

Cross-border Public Services (CPS) address joint problems or development potentials of cross-border regions.
This includes the big common challenges like nature conservation and jobs, but it also includes aspects that would not exist without the political and administrative borders.

 

Being provided on a long-term basis they aim to generate benefits for the general public or a specific target group in the cross-border territory in which the service is provided, thereby contributing to improving living conditions in border regions. Looking at the Danube Region, the situation in the border areas is as diverse as the region itself: Shared history, different language families, different laws and different administrative cultures can be a challenge – but also an opportunity for a common future.

 

Webinar on Cross-border (public) Services

The webinar “Cross-border (public) services” takes place on 27 September 2022. The webinar aims at providing useful information on where to find suitable funding, partners, and expertise to facilitate smooth service provision across borders. In doing so, the webinar addresses service provision for public as well as public/private and private partners. Our Webinar aims to reduce entry barriers by giving stakeholders of potential future CPS initiatives an insight on the current state of research on European level, discussing experiences of practitioners and potential project support.
