Flagships are key projects with a regional focus on multi-level governance. They support the EU Strategy for the Danube Region by strengthening economic, social and territorial cohesion while making the successes of cooperation visible. This year´s flagship projects include the Danube National Participation Day, Mothers for Ecology and Peace and the Cross-border Emergency Healthcare initiative.
Let´s take a look at each flagship, highlighting their significance and contributions.
National Participation Day
National Participation Day is an annual event organised by PA10 to promote active citizenship involvement and engagement in decisions-making processes within the Danube Region. The event aims to foster dialogue, collaboration, and exchange of best practices among diverse stakeholders from the Danube Region. By focusing on participation, the event contributes to the democratic development of the region and empowers individuals and communities to have a voice in shaping their future.
Mothers for Ecology and Peace
Mothers for Ecology and Peace is a project that supports and empowers refugee women, mothers and their families from Ukraine and communities in bordering countries. With a focus on a trauma-sensitive approach, the foreseen activities are based on three pillars: exchange and network building, capacity building and empowerment, development of Mother Centre initiatives in Ukraine as a “safe space” for informal learning and democracy building. The project facilitates dialogues, fosters community collaboration and promotes socio-economic empowerment. By engaging local authorities and marginalised groups, it creates a pathway for inclusive development and cross-cultural understanding. Additionally, its emphasis on ecological awareness and peace-building efforts further contributes to sustainable and harmonious communities.
Cross-Border Emergency Health Care
The Cross-border Emergency Health Care process is essential for the Danube Region, as it focuses on enhancing emergency medical services and healthcare cooperation across borders. In emergencies, quick and efficient access to medical care is crucial, and this initiative aims to improve the coordination and response mechanisms among healthcare providers in the different cross-border regions. By fostering collaboration, sharing resource, and harmonising protocols, the region´s capacity to handle emergencies efficiently is overall improving. This is ultimately benefiting the well-being and safety of residents and visitors alike.
Through these Flagships, we strive to engage citizens, empower mothers, and enhance emergency healthcare systems, so that together we can build a more inclusive, prosperous, and resilient Danube community.
